Welcome! The World Apostolate of Fatima is an International Catholic Association of Pontifical Right.
A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT’S DESK
May the Peace and Promise of Christmas fill your Heart with Joy!
During Advent, we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christmas with a contrite heart practicing charity and mercy, doing penance and offering the Good Lord the sacrifices of fulfilling our daily duties in reparation for our sins and the sins of the world. This is precisely the great spirituality of the Message of Fatima. Advent and Fatima spiritualities are the same!
On Christmas, the Light of the World was born, Jesus Christ! May the light of His peace and joy be born anew in your heart and remain with you throughout the New Year! This Christmas is a very special one. Put a smile on your face and remember to sing the Christmas Carols of hope and perfect love. “Hark! The Herald Angels sing, Glory to the newborn King! Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinner reconciled.” The authentic Message of Fatima echoes this beautiful song as it echoes the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Christmas is the perfect time for reconciliation with God and neighbors.
The International World Apostolate of Fatima sends you a special prayer that God will bless your life with Peace, Joy and Perfect Love today and always. Let us follow Our Lady’s of Fatima Message to achieve Peace on earth, the new era of triumph of her Immaculate Heart promised at Fatima. Her triumph had begun already but it is gradual and proportionate to our correspondence with God’s grace and mercy! More people must convert, more faith must come to the human heart, more meditative prayer must be practiced, more reparation to the Blessed Sacrament must be done and more Communions of Reparation on the First Saturdays of the month must be offered in reparation for the conversion of poor sinners in order to achieve her full triumph. All great graces require great correspondence from people!
Peace on Earth! ¡Paz en la Tierra! Mnp ha 3emne! Amani Duniani. Kapayapaan sa Mundo. Pax in Terris.
Prof. Américo Pablo López-Ortiz, International President of the World Apostolate of Fatima
FATHER LUIS KONDOR, A FAITHFUL FRIEND OF THE WORLD APOSTOLATE OF FATIMA
Father Luís Kondor died on October 28th, in Fatima, at the age of 81. He was the Vice-Postulator for the Cause for Canonization of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto. He will be for ever linked to the history of Fatima and to our Apostolate, which he loved so much.
In the words of Prof. Américo Lopez Ortiz, the International President of the WAF, “the contribution of Father Luis Kondor to the history of Fatima, the knowledge and spreading of the spirituality of the little shepherds, the universal promotion of the authentic message of our Lady into so many languages and the love and fidelity to the Holy Church, are as his legacy, a great monument of perfect love, built every day for the glory of God and the veneration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The friendship and the great collaboration of Father Luís with the former Blue Army and later with the World Apostolate of Fatima are proverbial. Publications, congresses, conferences, travels and historical-critical investigations have united us in the apostolic work and zeal for the things related with the Most Blessed Mary.
Today we celebrate his life of faithfulness and deep love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary that puts him next to the throne of God as beloved son and flower that adorns his throne. In the name of the International World Apostolate of Fatima, the Board of Trustees, the International Secretariat and in my own name, we extend our condolences to his family and religious community and we pray for the eternal rest of his soul”. Fr. Luís Kondor is buried at the Fatima cemetery.
POPE BENEDICT XVI VISITS FATIMA ON 13 MAY 2010
The World Apostolate of Fatima received with much joy the official news that Pope Benedict XVI will visit Portugal next year and will preside over the celebrations at the Fatima Shrine, on May 13th.
The short notice, coming from the Portuguese Republic’s Presidency, stated that “His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI will visit Portugal next year, following the invitation made to him by the President of the Republic”.
This will be the fifth time a Pope visits the Fatima shrine. Pope Paul VI was the first, in 1967 and John Paul II, was in Fatima three times. The last visit occurred in year 2000, when he beatified Francisco and Jacinta Marto, two of the seers who saw the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The visit of the Holy Father to Fatima will be an extraordinary event in the life of the Church and for our Apostolate.
OCTOBER’S WORLDWIDE PRAYER DAY FOR LIFE AND PEACE
On October 4, 2009, the international World Apostolate of Fatima will be promoting once again and around the whole world, the “Prayer Day for Life and Peace”. This initiative begun in year 2005 and since then, thousands of people have associated to pray for this cause. The World Apostolate of Fatima is, once again, inviting everybody to pray the Rosary or simply to dedicate a few minutes of prayer on the first Sunday of October, for the 'sanctity of human life' and consequently for peace. In preparation for this event, the children around the world will also be praying before the Blessed Sacrament, on Friday, October 2. More information at http://www.childrenoftheeucharist-waf.org In November, a special Holy Mass will be celebrated at the Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima for the intentions of those who sent in their pledge. OUR LADY OF FATIMA IN THE HEART OF THE CATHOLICS OF SOUTH KOREA
The city of Pusan, in South Korea, hosted from September 10-13, the II Asian Regional Congress of the World Apostolate of Fatima, entitled The Message of Fatima and the Christian Family. The event was attended by more than 100 delegates, from India, Philippines and South Korea. The international president of the movement, Prof. Américo Lopéz-Ortiz and the international secretariat, Nuno Prazeres and Ana Reis, from Fatima, also participated.
The meeting was preceded by a retreat which congregated more than 2500 people around the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, a clear sign of the profound Marian devotion of the South Korean Catholics, who are only 10% of the country’s population. In the end, the crowd said farewell to the Blessed Virgin Mary waving white handkerchiefs and singing the hymn “Ave of Fatima”.
During the congress, the various conferences emphasised aspects of the Fatima Message that can better illuminate the life of Christian families in Asia. Nuno Prazeres and Ana Reis shared the memory of their relatives, who had been directly involved in the Apparitions, calling for the families to become true prayer cells, following the example of the Fatima shepherds.
The World Apostolate of Fatima was established in South Korea in 1964, through the hands of Rev. Msgr. Anton Trauner, a German missionary. Nowadays, there are more than one hundred thousand members. These apostles of Our Lady in the Extreme Orient have contributed a great deal for the expansion of the Fatima Message.
PUERTO RICO’S CONGRESS STRESSED THE ROLE OF OUR LADY’S MESSAGE FOR THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
The first regional congress of the World Apostolate of Fatima for Latin America and the Caribbean’s, held in the island of Puerto Rico, from the 26th to the 31st of August 2009, reaffirmed that “the experience and propagation of the Fatima message is a valuable contribution to the New Evangelization, because the Virgin Mary presented Her Immaculate Heart to mankind as a refuge and path to God”.
The meeting gathered 120 representatives of various countries, such as Puerto Rico, Argentina, Mexico, Curacao and USA, and was held in multiple locations. There were events open for a wider audience, like the one at the place where a replica of the Little Chapel of the Apparitions was constructed, attended by over one thousand people.
There was also the inauguration of a diocesan sanctuary of our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, established in the parish of Santa Rosa de Lima, in San Germán, Mayaguez. The Shrine of Fatima and the Bishop of Leiria-Fatima were represented by the General Vicar of the diocese of Leiria-Fatima, Fr. Jorge Guarda. Knowing about the purpose of creating a new Fatima sanctuary in Puerto Rico, Bishop António Marto sent a message considering this new shrine as an extension "in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean’s of the echo of the private message that our Lady delivered to humankind in Fatima”.
People of Latin America and the Caribbean were so happy and highly spirited by the Congress that they expressed to have now understood very clear the ways to implement the New Evangelization in the continent, using the Message of Fatima as the most excellent means to achieve it. Beginning in 2010 and for the next 10 years, this will be the most important task of the Catholic Church in this region.
