International Public Association of the Faithful

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three little shepherds, Lucia de Jesus, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, in Fatima. We are invited to make a festive memory of this event, but above all, we are invited to embrace with renewed commitment, the calls of the Message, assured that the Immaculate Heart of Mary will always be our “refuge and the path leading to God”.

To celebrate one hundred years of Fatima is to recognize that God is present in our history. That in Fatima and from Fatima, He offers us, through the Blessed Virgin Mary, a new hope and a new path to heal the wounds of the world, through prayer, conversion, penance and reparation. The Centenary is also an opportunity for celebrating the legate of sanctity that the three little shepherds left us, particularly that of Francisco and Jacinta, canonized on May 13th, by Pope Francis, in Fátima.

At the same time, in celebrating the Centenary of Fatima, we also express our gratitude to those heralds of the message of Fatima who, with love and sacrifice, have taken it to the four corners of the world during the past years. Among these, we count the founders of the World Apostolate of Fatima that initiated this work 70 years ago.

Wishing you a fruitful Fatima Jubilee with God’s abundant graces!

Pope Francis Pilgrimage to Fatima

The confirmation that Pope Francis had accepted the invitation to come on pilgrimage to Fatima on the 12th and 13th of May, to mark the celebration of the centennial of Our Lady’s first apparition in Fatima, was received with much joy. It will be a short pilgrimage that will include the canonization of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto.

The theme of the Pope’s visit is: “With Mary, I go on pilgrimage in hope and peace”. The Shrine of Fatima has created an official site with relevant information on the Holy Father’s visit to Fatima that can be accessed here:

Many members of the World Apostolate of Fatima from around the world have reported their presence in Fatima for this special occasion.

Blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto canonized in Fatima

Pope Francis, meeting with the cardinals in a consistory, announced that the canonization of Francisco and Jacinta Marto would take place on the 13th of May 2017, in Fatima, on the celebration of the centennial of the apparitions and during the pilgrimage of His Holiness to the Shrine of Fatima.

The World Apostolate of Fatima rejoices with the gift of sanctity of the first two non-martyr children to be proclaimed saints in the whole of Church history. In the words of the WAF International President, “it is wonderful to have the official confirmation of canonization of Blessed Jacinta and Francisco Marto on the Centennial of the First Fatima Apparition. Their canonization signifies the validation of the authentic Message of Fatima and its spirituality, capable of making saints, and the confirmation of their calls to holiness that are valid for all of us as well: A mixture of interior life (Francisco) with missionary work (Jacinta) and the Apostolate that combines both!

Our Lady of Fatima at the United Nations Headquarters

The so called “United Nations Statue of Our Lady of Fatima” under custody of the World Apostolate of Fatima, is visiting, on May 12, 2017 the United Nations headquarters, in New York, as part of an event to mark the Centennial of Our Lady’ Apparitions. This is the second time this particular statue goes to the United Nations. The first time was on December 8, 1952

The event is titled “The Centenary of Fatima and the Enduring Relevance of Its Message of Peace” and is sponsored by the Portuguese delegation at the UN and the Holy See's Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations. Speakers will include Ambassador Alvaro Mendonca e Moura, permanent representative of Portugal to the UN, and Archbishop Bernardito Auza, apostolic nuncio and permanent observer of the Holy See to the UN.

The significance of the statue travelling to the UN is to promote a message of peacemaking and peace building in light of Our Lady of Fatima and her messages to the children in 1917.

On May 13, there will be a Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady in Fatima.

Panama was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The Bishops of Panama have consecrated on March 5, their country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in the presence of one of the Pilgrim Virgin Statues coming from the Shrine of Fatima to visit the country for a month.

The visitation program was assisted by the World Apostolate of Fatima of the country that considered this to be a great privilege and also an opportunity to begin preparing the World Youth Day of year 2019, that will be hosted in Panama.

The original hymn “Your Immaculate Heart will Triumph”, in Spanish, composed by Cheli Boyd, a singer from Panamá, has also been presented during this visitation and is a true inspiration for the Centennial of Fatima. The song can be listened here with the footage of the Pilgrim’s statue visit to Panama.

During the centennial year, the World Apostolate of Fatima is promoting various activities to highlight the relevance of the Fatima event for our times. In the Czech Republic, there will be the visit of the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady and a Fatima Symposium, in October 2017. Information can be found here:
